Abstract：As the international status of China’s economy has increased a lot,  cross-cultural communication between China and other countries especially with those English speaking countries has become more and more frequent. Thus cross-cultural communication and translation has become more and more important in international economic and cultural communication. The successful cross-cultural communication largely depends on whether or not translators can accurately grasp the implied intention of those culture-loaded words especially the Chinese metaphor. So, studies on C-E Metaphor Translation Principles appeals to great attention. In order to find appropriate metaphor translating strategies for culture-loaded words and promote cross-cultural communication, this thesis studies the C-E metaphor translation of culture-loaded words in the Report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist  of China  by analyzing the C-E metaphor translation theory and providing a short overview of how culture-loaded words has been dealt with and translated through that theory in the Report of the 19th NCCPC.

摘要：随着国际经济地位的大幅提高，中国和其他国家尤其是英语语言国家间的交流变得越发频繁。因此，跨文化交流和翻译也变得越来越重要。能否成功的进行跨文化交流主要取决于翻译工作者是否可以准确把握住那些文化负载词尤其是汉语隐喻的翻译。所以，对于汉英隐喻翻译原则的研究引起了人们的普遍关注。此论文以探寻合理的文化负载词隐喻翻译技巧和促进跨文化交流为目的，通过分析隐喻汉英翻译理论以及简单概述隐喻汉英翻译理论下中国党第十九次全国代表大会报告(十九大报告)中文化负载词的处理与翻译，主要探究第十九次代表大会报告英译版本中的文化负载词的隐喻汉英翻译。

1.Introduction

The development of global economy in recent years along with the development of the Chinese economy has contributed to the enlargement of China’s political influence and the strengthening of its cultural exchange. Our comprehensive national power and international influence are improving constantly. Since China has increased its influence in the world, and the world has paid more attention to the development of China. Culture-loaded words, with its unusual frequency of occurrences, are obviously foregrounded. The recurrence of metaphorical culture-loaded words in the Report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist  of China (NCCPC) forms a metaphoric chain. The fascinating role metaphor plays in the culture-loaded words in the Report of the 19th NCCPC makes it possible to establish a kind of cultural knowledge. As the metaphor of culture-loaded words is implicit, it takes a lot of inference to see how the metaphor shapes the meaning of the discourse. In addition, it is obvious that the role of interpreting has become more and more important and apparent in cross-cultural communication. Especially during the annual session or important event, like those national congresses, culture-loaded words are widely used in important press conferences that are available to the world. What’s more, during those conferences, what makes translators feel most difficult is that the spokesman’s language is involved with various culture-loaded words, which contain rich cultural information of idioms, the poetries, the proverbs and allusions. The recognition of the foreigners to Chinese culture is far from enough. So in order to extend the influence of Chinese culture, we must create opportunities for those foreigners to take a close look at our Chinese culture.
