I. Introduction

Miller Hemingway (July21,1899--July2,1961) is a world-famous American novelist and short story writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. He was a veteran of the war, and I was later called the “lost generation.” In 1928, Hemingway left Paris, living in American Florida and Cuba, having a quiet pastoral life. His economic and low-key style has a great influence on the twentieth century novel. His life is full of adventure and his public image has influenced the later generations. He published seven novels, six short stories, and two non-fiction works. Three novels, four collections of short stories, and three novels were published after death. Many of these works are considered to be the classics of American literature. He created many works, but the most famous one is The Old Man and the Sea.

The Old Man and the Sea is finally finished by Hemingway’s writing career. It is a kind of excellent book with its vivid skill and simple language features. The Old Man and the Sea at the age of 1952 Pulitzer Prize for literature was the author of the Nobel Prize, 1954. This is a short story about Santiago with a 84 day old fisherman did not catch up with Cuba. So the boy, Mandolin, who used to sail with him, is forced to leave him and catch in another ship. The old fisherman insisted on fishing marlin by himself. Finally, he hung one eight feet, one of the biggest, he knew. But the fish is very mighty, disobedient. It dragged the old fisherman and his boat out to sea for 48 hours with the old fisherman bearing the whole weight of the fish through the line on his back.
