Research Methods

(1) Documentary research method

Search the Internet as well as our library to collect professional books and journals relevant with Fortress Besieged.

(2) Case Study

After reading the original version written by Qian zhongshu in Chinese, and the version translated by Nathan K. Mao and Jeanne Kelly, compare and select typical examples of untranslatable metaphors for further study.

(3) Analysis and Comparison

After the case study, abundant materials of the untranslatable metaphors are collected. Combined with the feedback of native speakers, comment on the translation solutions.
