Effects On the Impact of Language Input and Output Modes upon the Second Language Acquisition Efficiency of Non-linguistics Majors in universities

Title Effects On the Impact of Language Input and Output Modes upon the Second Language Acquisition Efficiency of Non-linguistics Majors in universities
Abstract:Due to the need of internationalization, the number of foreign language learners is increasing. However, learners' learning efficiency varies. This is especially prominent for language learners who are not English majors. The study got the attention from many scholars at home and abroad. Since 1970s, researchers have done the researches on the second language acquisition from different aspects, and their research methods are different. At the end of the twentieth century, the theory became mature. On the basis of the previous scholars’ research, this subject chose a certain number of students as sample, through collect data of students’ scores in CET-4 and CET-6 and group analysis equipped with oral English test, so that to get a initial understanding on the situation of second language acquisition of students and to provide reference for finding out a more effective learning method. Facts have proved that the differences in teaching methods of art majors and science majors affect the language input and output of students. Both of two ways improve the language ability but there is a distinction between oral English and written English, the impact of the former is much greater than the latter.

1 Introduction
1.1 Research Background
From the 1960s, in order to study people's ability to obtain language skills, especially foreign language, people gradually developed a new discipline called second language acquisition(SLA). In the 1970s, new theories on SLA were formed, including universal grammar, monitoring theory,
and environmental theory.
According to the theory of universal grammar, human beings possess universal language which enables people to learn a second language. In essence, the language is not obtained by "learning", as long as the language input has enough positive evidence, any normal person can learn the language. Based on the monitoring theory, it can be attributed to five hypothesis which include Language acquisition and learning hypothesis, natural order hypothesis, monitoring hypothesis, language input hypothesis and emotional filtering hypothesis.
According to the environmental theory, language is a set of behavioral habits. Second language acquisition is a process to overcome the native language habits interference and cultivate a new language habits . It also suggested that learners will be influenced by the social and psychological distance of native speakers in the learning process.
