摘 要:电影，不仅是文化的产物，也是文化的一种表现方式。中美两国独特的文化传统使中美电影带上了强烈的民族区域色彩。本文通过对美国喜剧电影《大话王》的简单介绍，分析中美电影文化在各方面的特点，总结中美电影文化中存在的异同。本文既有助于英语爱好者更好地理解中美文化差异，又有利于跨文化交流的顺利进行。

Abstract:Film is not only a product of culture, but also an expression of culture. There are  strong regional characteristics in Chinese and American movies because of their own unique traditional culture. This paper describes American comedy movie Lair,Lair, briefly analyses the characteristics of Chinese and American film culture respectively, and summarizes the similarities and differences between Chinese and American movie culture in great detail. The paper is helpful for the English learners to make a deeper understanding of the differences between the Chinese and American cultural and has a far-reaching impact on the cross-cultural exchanges between China and the United States.

On the Similarities and Differences of Chinese and American Movie Culture through the Film Liar,Liar

I. Introduction

   Because of the different historical development course, there are many differences between China and the United State. As a senior movie lover, I have a deep interest in the similarities and differences between Chinese and American movie culture. Recently, I have enjoyed a very interesting American film named Liar,Liar which is directed by Tom Shadiak, a very famous director and played by the famous actor Jim Carry who is called “the king of the comedy”. I think it will be a chance to make a study of the similarities and differences between Chinese and American movie culture.

Liar,Liar which got the fourth name among the Year blockbuster became one of the representative works of the director Tom Shadiak. What’s more, Liar,Liar sold 180 million box office and Jim Carry became the most successful film star in the 1990s. Fletcher Reid, the Hero of the film Liar,Liar, is closer to reality than the the figure of the past played by Jim Carry.

Fletcher was a very famous lawyer in the field of the lawyers. His pursuits of the material life, which as the truth he pursued in the court，all can be measured by money. The truth, for him, was far less important than the powerful arguments. So, in order to win, he lied to people, rather than pursuing the facts in the court. With time going, he became duplicity in the daily life. In other words, he became a incorrigible liar. Even he and his ex-wife’s son, Max, a very cute child who is five years old, took his lie for granted. However, Max still was very sad when his father found a bad excuse and did not arrive at the fixed day to meet him.

This was Max’s birthday, Fletcher still not arrived his son’s birthday party. Max, who was very disappointed, made a wish that his father can not lie any more. Because of this, a series of amazing things had happened. The wish came true.
