2.1 The Necessity of Cultivating and Improving English Writing

Cultivating students’ writing ability is one of the aims of middle school English teaching. Though listening, speaking, reading are important, without writing, students can not use the knowledge flexibly. Practice has proved that writing training is conducive to the consolidation and flexible use of vocabulary and grammar and other language knowledge (Gao Zhenhua 8). Writing can improve the learning effect. If you do not have a higher English writing standard, you can not pass the selection of college entrance examination. Written expression is fully reflected in the students’ English level and is a project to examine students’ comprehensive ability of using English.

2.1.1 To Lay the Foundation for Future Writing

The study of English in middle school is mainly used as the basis for the study in university or in the future. It can be said that this stage plays a very critical role in the students’ future learning. English is a practical tool, English teaching is not only to enable students to learn language knowledge but also to develop students’ ability to use the language to communicate. Writing is an important way to exchange information and feelings in written language. Writing is said to be the most difficult ability among the four skills. Writing ability is an important indicator to measure the size of a student’s ability and an important guarantee for the students to succeed in the future. But English writing training is a kind of comprehensive one that involves lot. If you want to write a good article, you must have the language knowledge, ideas and content, such as a reasonable arrangement of the article structure and strict requirements for basic knowledge. Training students’ English writing ability not only helps to improve students’ language proficiency, but also helps to improve students’ ability of observation, thinking, analysis, summary and so on. Therefore, it is very necessary to strengthen the writing practice in the middle school to develop the writing habit for the further improvement of the future writing level.
