II. Status Quo and Existing Problems of College Students’ English Writing
2.1 Rigidity of Syntactic Structure
Some students do not form a systematic concept of vocabulary, so that students can not use words or phrases flexibly in the article which they stored in the brain.
For example, “someone thinks”, most students use “I think” or “in my opinion” and other simple phrases they had learned in secondary school, rather than more common phrases found in college English textbooks, such as “I hold”, “ I suppose”, “in my eyes”, “as far as I am concerned” and other words are rarely used. Meanwhile, students often use the simple sentences which only includes the subject, predicate, object and adverbial, the noun clauses and subjunctive mood are rarely applied so that the article is boring to read.
