游戏教学法对小学英语词汇练习影响的实证研究

The Influence of Games on Vocabulary Practice in Primary School


Abstract:Vocabulary is an important part of English learning, and students’ mastery of the English vocabulary has a direct impact on their English proficiency. In order to meet the qualification of English vocabulary teaching in English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education, more and more teachers begin to apply the game teaching approach in English class. The author tries to apply the game teaching approach in the vocabulary teaching in primary school in order to find out an effective and scientific teaching method which is suitable for the development of primary school students.

This study is based on the theory of Comprehensible output, children’s cognitive development and multiple intelligence. And in this research, an experiment has been designed to carry out in two classes of Grade 6 in Wenyijie Elementary School. The experimental class and the control class are taught by the same teacher in game teaching approach and traditional teaching approach respectively. The author adopt questionnaire, pre-test and post-test to find out the effects of different kinds of teaching methods.

The results prove that the game teaching approach can make improvement on learners’ English vocabulary in primary school. Game teaching approach can improve students’ performance on English vocabulary and arouse their interest towards English. Most students show positive attitude towards game teaching approach. At last, the author discusses the major findings and limitations of the study. And the author hopes this study can bring some enlightenments for future English teaching.

游戏教学法对小学英语词汇练习影响的实证研究

摘  要:词汇的学习是英语学习中的重要部分,学生对英语词汇的掌握程度直接影响这学生的英语水平。为了适应教育部在2011年《义务教育英语课程标准》中对小学英语词汇教学提出的更高要求,不少教师开始将游戏教学法应用于英语词汇教学。但游戏教学法多被运用于小学低年级学生,而高年级学生,如六年级,由于其认知和心理的特点,在学习英语的过程中教师鲜少运用游戏教学法。

为了探究游戏教学法对小学高年级学生英语词汇学习的作用,作者以多元智力理论,二语习得理论以及儿童认知发展理论为理论基础,在杭州市文一街小学开展教学实验。实验以小学六年级一班和六年级二班的学生为实验对象,将游戏教学法应用于小学英语词汇教学,进行对比研究。实验班和对照班英语起点大致相同,教学内容相同,授课人相同,但授课方法不同。实验班采取游戏教学法,而对照班采用传统词汇教学法。实验采用问卷调查法,口语测试,笔试等方法对实验结果进行评估。

研究结果表明,游戏教学法对小学英语词汇教学有一定的促进作用。游戏教学法能够提高学生的词汇成绩,激发学生的学习兴趣,大多数学生对游戏教学法持肯定态度。最后作者论述了本研究的启示和局限,希望本研究能够对小学英语教学工作带来一点启示,使小学英语教学取得更好的效果。
