On Cultural Infiltration in English Teaching in Junior High School
摘 要:在新课程改革的背景下,越来越多的老师重视文化教学。他们打破教学中培养学生应试能力的传统,提出培养初中生的文化意识和提高他们的知识运用能力同等重要的观点。本论文分析了文化渗透在初中英语教学中的应用现状,发现了初中英语文化教学中存在教学目标单一、教学方法单一、教师文化素养不足和现代信息技术干扰的问题。针对这些问题,本文提出运用材料多样化教学、多渠道教学和对比教学的建议,旨在培养初中生的文化意识。

Abstract:In the context of the new curriculum reform, more and more teachers attach importance to cultural teaching. They break through the tradition of improving students’ abilities to take exams. They think that cultivating the cultural consciousness is as important as improving students’ language exertion ability. This paper analyzes the application of cultural infiltration in junior high school English teaching. There are some problems, such as the monotonous teaching objectives, single teaching method, teachers of a lack of cultural literacy and interference by modern information technology. For these problems, the paper puts forward people some strategies, such as persified materials, multi-channel teaching, contrastive teaching. It aims to cultivate students’ cultural awareness.

On Cultural Infiltration in English Teaching in Junior High School
I. Introduction
Language is the media of communication, and the use of language reflects the culture. If people are out of touch with social culture, it is difficult for people to master the language. Because of the historical development of each country, the living environment and the different values, there are some differences in culture. People understand cultural background and these differences which are necessary for people to learn language. If people ignore cultural knowledge and spend a great deal of time on studying language knowledge, it is less effective for students to learn cultural knowledge. So this result will increase students’ pressure, and students will lose motivation in learning. Therefore, in the junior high school English teaching, it is indispensable to train students’ communicative competency. The application of cultural infiltration in English teaching is one of the main differences between traditional English teaching and modern English teaching. This paper discusses the relationship between language and culture, and explains the necessity and feasibility of teaching cultural infiltration in junior high school English teaching. How to strengthen the cultural learning and improve cultural infiltration is becoming a pressing task.
This paper is pided into five parts. The first part mainly points out the introduction of the paper. The second part introduces culture and foreign language teaching. The third part presents the teaching objectives of cultural infiltration. The fourth part points out the cultural infiltration of teaching implementation. The fifth part makes a summary of the whole paper.
II. Culture and Foreign Language Teaching
2.1 Culture
The way of life that a group of people builds up over a long period of time becomes the people’s culture. Culture includes the people’s values and beliefs as well as their technical competency. Some aspects of culture are learned in a formal setting, such as a school, while other aspects are learned informally in the process of day-to-day living. A culture is always changing. Changes in culture often come about by borrowing form another culture and by invention. Culture is a unique human spiritual phenomenon and a property of humanity. Culture is the main designer and bearers of the human spirit. Language is the vehicle of culture, learning English should also be the process of understanding foreign culture. People study the culture in the language, so they can really understand this culture. Culture and foreign language are complementary in cross-cultural communication. Culture is an important part of foreign language teaching. People say behind the language of culture. And language cannot live without culture.
