In addition, there are an increasing number of education failures. Problems among teachers, students, and parents are getting more seriously. For instance, the number of students' suicide incidents becomes larger than before, owing to their parents' blame or criticism given by their teachers. Students are too weak to withstand pressure. Teachers play an important role if we get to the bottom of this problem. As the student's own hand, and the dependence of the psychological characteristic of the pision, they can not develop without the promotion and guidance of teachers. If teachers haven't defined their roles in teaching clearly, it's possible to mislead students because of their false examples.

1.2 Definition of Role Change

Role Change is just the same as actors who always play different roles on the stage. People have corresponding social status and they take up various professions, so everyone has personal behavior pattern. In a word, people play distinct Social Roles in different roles. In this socialization process, everyone continuously plays or changes all kinds of roles, thus, Role Change is also regarded as Role Transition. In short, it means a change or a substitute between the old and new role. For example, the role changes from the superior to the subordinate or from student to teacher and so on. Role Change means inpidual should get rid of the former role's behavior pattern and psychological characteristics. They should adjust their states to get into the role in order to finish the job given by the new role.

Chapter Two  Literature Review

2.1 The Research Status at Home and Abroad

Rousseau and Dewey, two main representatives of the theory of Students-Centered, put forward that the development of students was regarded as a natural process and teachers could not dominate the process. At the same time, they also believed that the development of children was an active process. The role of teachers was to guide students' interest in learning, and meet the inpidual needs of students, rather than directly interfere with students' learning. On the contrary, the representatives of Teachers-Centered considered that students must maintain a passive state to their teachers in the educational process. They emphasized the authority of teachers and neglected the enthusiasm of students.

In China, educationists, such as Gu Yongqing, Xie Xueren and Zhu Peiyu, took a critical attitude to Teachers' Role. They thought the roles of teachers could be pided into the preacher, guide, facilitator, designer, researcher, developer, etc. Besides, other educationists had a reflection of Teachers' Role. With the development of education, Teachers' Role varied from different conditions. For example, from the relationship between students and teachers, teachers were facilitator and guide; while from the relationship of teaching process, the role of teachers was changed to be an organizer.

All in all, there are some traditional views for teachers' roles which deeply influence teachers.

2.2 Traditional Teachers' Roles

2.2.1Teachers are gardeners.

Gardeners are people who devote themselves into nature design, trying to make a beautiful garden. Although plants can thrive with gardeners' hardworking, students are not plants. Plants are lifeless and can't express their feelings. Gardeners cut branches and leaves to meet the visual integrity, regardless of plants own need and development. To the eye of the gardeners, they hope to design a unified and harmonious scene. But students are special in that they have different kinds of need. They have vividly characteristics, and they have their own desire. If teachers blindly work hard like gardeners, their efforts will all be in vain. More seriously, it is likely to stifle their initiative and creativity in study, and eventually kill their interest in English. Finally, they may become “the same leaves’ and involve in the stereotypes.

2.2.2 Teachers are candles.

Candles burn themselves slightly to light everything, so do teachers. They burn themselves to their students without any compliant. However, this metaphor may be not properly because in fact candles power is small, while teachers' profession is a big program and major project of educating people. So how do we build teachers' role when we compare them to such single image of candles with limited power? What's more, when the candle is out, the light disappears. While in education process, teachers' effect is permanent, it will not disappear quickly. But unquestionably, there is an affirmative aspect that teachers are selfless contribution like candles.
