In the human History, the concept of human rights has been a 200 years of history, but the concept of human rights does not include woman’s rights in a long historical period. In different times and cultures, men are also oppressed, but they oppressed because they belong to a member of a class, rather than because they are male. Women are different, they are oppressed not only because belonging to a class, but also oppressed because of being a woman. Patriarchy system thought that the role of gender order is not only widespread, but also unchangeable, because it is formed naturally. But feminism thought that this gender order is neither widespread nor unchangeable, because it is not formed “naturally”, but built by the social and cultural construction artificially up. The end of the 20th century is the climax era of the feminist movement, also the peak of the women’s liberation movement. Brought about by the feminist movement in this period, gender studies raised as a result. Feminism research began to rise, a variety of feminism, genre raised and bred many excellent works of literature and art.
2.1 The Definition of Feminism
Feminist theory has a basic premise, that is: “Women all over the world is an oppression, discrimination level”, which is called “The Second Sex” by Beauvoir. Female secondary sexual position is so common, so long-lasting. Feminist theory is too complicated, boils down to one sentence is: to achieve gender equality in all humanity. It comes in five parts: the awareness of women that they belong to a subordinate group and that, as members of such a group, they have suffered wrongs; the recognition that their condition of subordination is not natural, but societally determined; the development of a sense of sisterhood; the autonomous definition by women of their goals and strategies for changing their condition, and the development of an alternate vision of the future. All in all, feminism means end to sexism, sexual exploitation, sexual discrimination and sexual oppression, it is a social theory and political movement that created to promote the class equality. In addition, it also focused on the analysis of gender inequalities and the promotion of the underlying rights, interests and issues.
