According to the survey data from the relevant websites, students spend about five hours on the Internet per week, but in the 5 hours, there is a great difference in terms of the time that is spent on network reading learning through the Internet. More than half of the students rely on the Internet to kill the time and some students even take advantage of the limited time to secretly play online games or chat with friends. And unfortunately, some students become addicted to computer games, which may damage not only their study but also their physical conditions. As a result, only a small proportion of students uses the time to access to some network learning resources and makes full use of those resources to improve their learning qualities. The situation of neglecting different abilities of students in using the network resources will cause the reduction of enthusiasm of the students in participating in online learning. On the other hand, following the vicious spiral, the differences and gaps among the students’ abilities to use the network resources in English learning will be further expanded under this situation.

Internet is a very big data base and resource pool, and it can develop very fast in a long term and the development potential is very large(Deborah Stevenson,344). However, its development requires a certain degree of technical supports; as a consequence, teachers that are responsible for long-term English reading teaching will be faced with many great challenges. When applying the network resources to the English reading teaching activities, teachers usually play roles of leaders and designers and they have to lead the students to continue the learning process. It is widely accepted that different teachers have different abilities in English reading teaching, so during the process of teaching, different teachers may choose different contents and different kinds of websites and resources, which is also likely to influence the final teaching effect. When it comes to the selection of network resources, many teachers may feel embarrassed and fall into difficulties, because the teaching time of every class is limited. Therefore, it is essential to spend more time on choosing the teaching contents in advance, and it is not easy to achieve a balance between traditional resources and network resources. In addition, teachers also have to ensure that the choice of teaching content can meet the requirements of students in terms of reading and studying because that is the basic responsibility of teachers.

2.1 Types of Network Resources

There is a variety of courses in the educational technology and the educational technology also involves a very wide range and incorporates a lot of network resources. There are rich network resources that are related to each course on the Internet.

It is essential to determine a definition of curriculum resource at present. The curriculum resource refers to a total of human resources, material resources and natural resources that can be used during the whole teaching process such as curriculum design, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation. It also includes all the resources that are likely to be beneficial to realize curriculum objectives, promote the professional growth of teachers and the all-round development of students in textbooks, teachers, students, parents, schools, families and even communities. The application of modern educational technology in teaching provides impressive new ideas and guarantees for the development of new curriculum resources.
